Eco-Congregation
Scotland

What is Eco-Congregation Scotland?
Eco-Congregation Scotland is a programme to enthuse and equip churches to weave environmental issues into their life and mission in an enjoyable and stimulating way. They do this within the three areas of the programme:
· Grow in faith and understanding
make the link between environmental issues and Christian faith
· Put God's house in green order
Take practical action in the church
· Change lives, change communities
Influence attitudes and take action in the local or global community
The programme is free, ecumenical, and part of a wider Eco-Congregation movement throughout the UK and beyond. Churches which register on the programme can benefit from:
· support from local networks of churches
· free resource modules  on all aspects of church life
· information through networks, newsletter and website
· links to other organisations including free resources and grant opportunities
There is an award system which is designed to recognise achievement and affirm good practice that promotes/contributes to sustainability and witnesses to the importance of caring for creation.

In February 2010 Eco-Congregation Scotland became a charitable company.  This is a big step forward and puts the movement on a secure legal footing for the first time.
